Some authors define the counting numbers to be
0,1,2,3,......
Other authors define the counting numbers to be
1,2,3,4,.......
The official term for the first set is "non-negative integers", while the second is the "postitive integers". Those terms are unambiguous. Unfortunately, there is no such agreement on the phrase "counting numbers".
