Yes, of course it is. I'm not talking about the psychological disorder of multiple personality disorder when people actually have different identities in the same body, and are unaware of the others when one becomes dominant. I'm speaking of the everyday personality changes when one is fully aware of self. For example, you have a much different personality in public and among strangers, than you do when you're with friends and family. And many times a person will find it necessary to put on an act to impress people, and then let all the guards down when they are relaxing at home. So yes, I say it is normal to have many different personalities, as long as you know who you are in each of them. It's when you don't, that you're in psychological trouble. I hope I didn't confuse you too much by this explanation.

no, but....

lots of people think other people have 2 personalities, when really, one person may act very differently at work than at -- baseball games, for example.

most people act very different under extreme stress.

but 2 personalities the way a therapist would mean 2 personalities? no - that isn't normal. In fact, it is rare.

I have eleven and that's not normal, I suppose, although I don't know what it's like to have one so I'm not a good judge. But , in answer to your question, I think every normal person has more than one state of mind that are not unique personalities with their own identities(names, ages, mannerisms etc.). It seems like personalities and they may be distinct moods and states of mind, but they are not real personalities. If they were, it would most definitely be Dissociative Identity Disorder and not be normal.

Yes i have more than 2 infact i think everyone may have , this way you can deal with your problems if you get me, rather than keeping them locked inside, You can have a number of personalities although when it starts ruining your life, i.e you hear voices telling you what to do. then you may have to see someone about this, like may be a number of personality disorders , e.g. Narcassasive personailty disorder, where a person has more than 1 personailty and this is seen by others, You dont have to be sectioned or anything it is normal..

So dont worry about this, not unless it is starting to come up to the surface and people tend to notice or you think yourself that you need to speak to someone about it..

Two sub-personalities is normal. Two distinct and fully developed personalities are not only abnormal, but also rare in people. A diagnosis for a person like that would be: Dissociative Identity Disorder.

My shrink says we develop a part of many personality's from watching and learning. That is why there is so much controversy over what children view on TV.
That is why parents must conduct their arguments in private or you will notice your kids being a bit-- Like Mommy was or maybe slap someone against a wall like daddy did.
You could also develop nice stuff that people do.

Not that I know of. Multiple personality disorder is fairly rare, I thought. Then again, I'm no psychologist, so take it for what you think it's worth.

But it's possible to have more than one aspect to the same personality. For example, they may be outgoing at one point in their day, but quiet and introspective at another time, depending on the social situation, what's on their mind, etc.

Absolutely - probably more than 2! I have a 'work' personality and a 'at home' personality just to name 2!

If you are referring to 'split' personalities then NO. But, in psychology we talk about social roles and your behavior is likely to change in different social situations. It is normal to act different around different groups of friends etc.
