i'm not the prettiest, but i'm different looking.
i'm not tall either. pretty short, 5'2" with huge eyes and a tiny nose, i look like a little anime character. i've got super long legs, and brown hair.

so.
what kind of modeling opportunities are there for people like me?

First, they melt tiny plastic pieces.

Then, they extrude or mold those pieces into the various parts of the model which is usually scaled down from its real-life counterpart and . . .

Oh! You weren't talking about model airplanes?!?!?

(okay, go ahead and give me a negative rating;
I deserve it for that awful joke!) ;)

well you left out one very impt detail- your age.
now since you are short you could only do print work but nothing editorial- only for ads.. if you are a teen or preteen or child then you have many more oppurtunities being short then if you are an adult.. if you are a teen i hope you look young because taller teens are generally preferred.. short people can do limited too, old navy, etc (very commercial stuff- thats all)
i honestly wouldnt bother trying unless its something you REALLY want because i've been down that road before (im 5"9, pretty etc) and ive gotten a lot of oppurtunities but its such a hassle... you have to pay a photographer, hair stylist, make up artist, stylist and all for a photo shoot and then you have to go to a bunch of different agencies and see which one likes you- you have to read contracts.. you have to always be available- if you're still in school its tuff.. for shoots you have to spends hours ni hair and make up.. in fashion shows you have to come 4hours early.. its annoying so dont bother unless its your dream (which you'll probably get over once you start- esp because your oppurtunities are limited)

About the height that's not true only if you want to be a runway model you have to be 5'8 or 5'9 but you can be a body part model or do commerical print and not be really tall or skinny or pretty. Most models do not have to be pretty they just have to look different from everyone else and be unique.

It's not necessarily true that there are absolutely no opportunities for you. I'll warn you that you will have a harder time than others because of you're height, and runway models are usually 5'9". There are so many ways to become a model, but it's difficult. Take pictures, professional looking pictures. Send them out to places. It seems a little desperate, but it's what it takes to get noticed! Feel free to email/im me for more advice!

Models are generally skinny and tall. There are more unique looking models, though.

I'm not sure why so many people aspire to be models. Is it a way to boost your self-esteem? Or because you want "fame and fortune"?

Try your luck at acting, there are way more short actors than models.

runway the minimum height is 5'7 and thats a SHORT model. nothing wrong with being short though (im 5'1), you might be able to do some catalog stuff but nothing big like designer stuff. you have to be really tall for that.

I'm having the same problem, unfortunately 5'6" is considered really short in modeling. I have huge eyes, and long legs too... but im also 5'2"... So i don't know, if you find out any let me know please.

Tall, thin, and elegant. Not really neccesary to be gorgeous face, there´s many models who are not. But not ugly neither of course
