The U.S. government has gotten to that point because we let it get that way. Has everyone forgotten "that we the people "have the right to call for the removal of politicians that don't act in our best interest? We also have the right to tell our Representatives what we want them to do.
We let the minority elect them in to office, and then allow them free reign to do as they wish. We are supposed to run the government, not the other way around. But I'ld do better talking to a wall wouldn't I?

These 'practical' examples have been happening since at least 1795..the earliest record that I've found.
YAZOO LAND SCANDAL (1795)
There are many examples of corruption, yet our country and its political system live on.
What you have before you now is only more intensive reporting coupled with better, quicker distribution of the news.

Nothin' new here. It's the same ole stuff with new names.

Scary, isn't it?
Have we Americans gotten a lot more 'wimpy' over time?
This country NEVER had an illegal immigration problem when J Edgar Hoover was in charge.
What's going to happen next?
Will we bring back the draft? (If so, we will start seeing some REAL protests!)
I love the U.S.A.

Practical examples of corruption in the White House. You mean like Whitewater? Iran-Contra? Watergate? Teapot Dome?

There has been corruption in the White House since the last of the original 'founding fathers' left it.

I think Americans will assume that the next President needs close scrutiny. Bush has ruined the Presidency for whomever follows.

Well judging by that past 2 elections, I don't think that Americans scrutinizing anything makes a damn bit of difference.
We all know it the electoral college and the supreme court that decides for us.
they figure most Americans are too stupid to make a rational decision and the $$$$$$ always opens the doors.

Americans are becoming more and more indifferent about the government I think there will be an equal amount of scrutiny by the same exact people

After everything that bush and company have done, and how fat and lazy Americans are and won't hold him accountable. The next president would have to shoot babies live a during primetime press conference in order to get them to do anything about corruption.

Oh, how little you know about what actually goes on. Congress throws bills at the President that have added $ to go to special interest groups. Bush vetos the bill. Congress sends a message to the media that our President is against health care for children.
Crazy is this: Atheists are able to take God out of our Constitution and our language. Not mine. I do not live in a communist nation (that I know of) and I will pray and worship whom I believe in. They are free to do the same.

Actually scrutinizing the President is nothing new. Throughout history people have been brutal in their criticizm. This is really nothing new and it will continue unrelentingly.
