Republicans don't want to hurt people earning millions so instead they're perfectly alright with middle class families taking the beating.

The simple fact is Republicans are the friends of the modren day Robber Barons and big business. They could NEVER pass something that will take some money out of their pockets, even if it would prevent taxes on us normal folks.

The Republican mantra of keeping taxes low is b.s. It's keeping taxes low for their special interests.

Here's a shining example:
Do you know that Warren Buffet pays 17% taxes on his $40+ billion a year, while his secretary pays 30% on her $60,000 a year. That's the Republican idea of fairness.

*******
Edit: This tax break would affect 23 million families as opposed to the 50,000 people the current tax loophole that Republicans don't want to close affects.

So Republicans would father help the 50,000 investment bankers than the 23 million American families. Give me a break!

As far as the CNN article, all it shows is that those making $500,000 or more a year would pay more taxes while the taxes for us in the middle class would stay the same! That's the point. The AMT is not indexed with inflation. That mean with every year that passes more and more middle class families become subject to it. We obviously don't want that. We'd rather our taxes STAY THE SAME. How hard is it to understand really?

Here's the best quote the CNN article:

The Tax Policy Center estimates that 57 percent of tax filers (86 million households) would get a tax cut under Rangel's bill in 2008, while 2.4 percent of filers (3.6 million households) would pay higher taxes.

The White House also said language in the bill to terminate an IRS program farming out delinquency cases to private debt collectors would subject it to a veto.

privet collectors who can ruin a persons credit rating have no business collecting taxes.

And how exactly was this a tax cut for the middle class? Wasn't this just a stunt filled with poison pills intended to give the bottom feeding Dems an election year issue? I think so!

Middle class??? Everyone between $20,000 and $100,000 pay a whopping 1% less than the year before.

Dems only care about minumum wage employees, doctors, and lawyers. This is why the brackets to get the biggest cut are $10,000-$20,000 and $100,000-$500,000. They get a 5% tax break - averaging a $40 savings per year for the poor, and $1,000+ for the 6 figure "middle class"

Hey look, a bunch of people who don't bother to read legislation before they support it - because a Democrat said "middle class" You guys really are as gullible as Republicans.

The top 2% income americans pay over 90% of the taxes in this country....

STOP WHINING

Read the bill dummies, it only helps the super poor and the upper middle class. The democrat base, poor people and suburban families....

if you make between $20k and $100k like MOST of us it does nothing for you!

Bush will Veto it, he's already made that clear, so it's really just for show. Will it accomplish anything? That's hard to say.
