My grandmothers middle name is Elizabeth, which I also got as a middle name (Ashley Elizabeth) and I would like to name my daughter after her with some form of that name. Also, my mothers middle name is Joy, and my sisters middle name is Lynn. I would love to come up with a name that can honor all of the generations of women in our family. I came across the name Elizabella, which sounds great to me because I have always been a fan of Isabella but never wanted her to be "Izzy", so I think that one will top my last at the moment. And for a middle name, I was thinking something like Joylynn after my mom and sister. What do you all think of Elizabella Joylynn? Also, if you have any other ideas for these names, please let me know. Thanks!!

Go for it!

You have every right to call your daughter whatever you want - especially if you are honouring your loved ones.

I received criticism because I gave my eldest 3 "big" family names - and I had family comment on how her full name was a "big name for a little girl". Well, she didn't stay a little girl for long, her middle names are rarely, if ever, used and it has given her a sense of connection to family that would have loved her to bits, but unfortunately, she was never able to meet.

Go with your heart and honour your the women in your family that obviously mean a lot to you!

I really like the name Elizabella - I have never heard it before but it is lovely. However I don't really like Joylynn because it seems a bit much with Elizabella. Maybe you could give her two middle names and just name her Elizabella Lynn Joy - this seems to work a lot better. Or name her Eliza and use Joylynn as a middle name?

Hope that help!

Elizabella Joylynn is quite a mouthful, without including the last name!

So...you've got three names you want to name this child after.
Elizabeth, Joy and Lynn.

From Elizabeth you can get many names.
Eli
Eliza
Liza
Lizabeth
Beth
Betty

How about,
Bethlynn Joy ______
BettyLynn Joy
Elynn Joy ______
Lynnabeth Joy _____
Elynnza Joy _____
Joybellinza _______

I'm sure you can come up with many more. Keep in mind the given name that this child will have to go with the last name.

And that this sweet little baby will be going to school some day--and school kids can be very mean.

And also this little bundle of joy is going to grow up to be an adult some day who will have prospective employers looking at this name on a resume.

You want this kid to have four names. What I recommend you do is split these four names between two little girls.

I have always through that the name Elizabella was very pretty. And it is perfect for right now because of how popular names with "antique charm" are.

I think that Elizabella is great!

While I can understand the special family meaning of JoyLynn, I thinkthat it is a little too much. I know you want to honor all those special women, but I recommend going with:
Elizabella Joy for your mother.

Then, if you have another daughter she can have the special middle name of Lynn. Because it is a name for your sister, it is one that would still be special but is not so necessary, unless your sister has passed away.

I think that saving Lynn for another child would be fine.

However, if you really want to encompass all of the names, the Elizabella Joylynn is lovely.

I think it's a great idea to combine all 3 but Elizabella Joylynn is a mouth full what about Eliza Joylynn. I just think both names are kinda hard to pronounce and long. Remember she has to spell her name!

First off, I like the name very much.
Second, I warn you, my daughter's name is Elizabeth Rose and despite my best efforts her name has been corrupted to "Izzie Boo". So name your baby whatever you choose and be prepared to be flexible because even "Eliza" gets changed to Izzie, not just Isabella.

PLEASE REMEMBER: you will be writing this full name out on paperwork for the rest of your natural life and your child will be doing so for all of their life. Keep in mind that while pregnant you LOVE the name Elizabella Joylynn Lastname, but on school registration day when you are putting four kids into a new district, you will HATE your poetic little self, and you slowly whittle away that beautiful, lyrical name that took nine months to come up with to something like "HEY YOU! Don't do that to your sister!!!!" and as you write out 20 plus characters for the zillionth time, causing irreversible nerve damage to your wrist, all you can do is to smile, because your angel has the name you chose!

I quite like Elizabella, it has a nice sound and it's different and original without being strange. Joylynn sounds a little awkward, I'd leave it at Joy, or give her a second middle name.

I really like your idea for the first name, but I think adding the middle name of Joylynn is a bit much. Elizabella Joy would be nice though.

It is a bit long. I´d pick either or. Elizabella or Joylynn. Isabella is also a beautiful name. Isabella Joy is nice too.
