Have you ever tried to look for the book mechanics for dummies? I've been wanting to learn the same thing myself but never got to it for the same reasons as you and I thought of that book....Also in some auto store (even big brand store) they sell books for you car model and year and has all that info in there. If you don;t want to buy maybe look for those at your local library....
