I try not to let my "self" irritation spill out onto other people. Usually if I take a moment and remind myself to breathe and look honestly at why I am irritated...I can get it to pass a lot faster and move towards creating a better day. You might say that I try to change the face of my current irritated mood into a more calm or higher emotion and not let it ruin the day...or the night...because our moods become the manifestation of our present situation (aka...the time of day we are having the irritation).

I clench my teeth together & dig my nails into my palm. One stops me speaking and letting people know about it and the other keeps me occupied long enough to calm down a bit.
That does take the edge off - then I just make a joke of it. I spend a lot of time making jokes...............

At home I swear profusely...which is something I normally do not do, but I when I'm mad, I'm swear a lot. In public places or around people, I get a serious face, my voice gets more distinct and serious, and I have a frown and fold my arms....and I become very direct.

Stress will kill you if you let it. Yes, I said stress, irritation is anger that needs to be channeled in to a better place. Try some deep breathing and have an egg timer handy.

Unfortunately, I eat! I have never been an emotional eater, but over the years, I have found that being in a bad mood (angry, irrirated) will make me out of control.

Depending on the level of irritation, I might simply go silent and withdraw within myself. Generally speaking, though, I never get mad (angry not crazy). I get even.

I really try not to take it out on my family and friends. The best thing I find to do is to go off by myself and think everything through, that is bothering me.

Listen to really loud music!
Then, the person irritating me
is muted! Seeing only their lips move!
