G = 223

if the equation is evaluated as it is

G/5 -13 = 42

first find the common denominator by multiplying both sides by 5
because -13 can be written as -13/1 here

which gives a new equation

G - 65/5 = 210

then solve for G

G -13 = 210

G = 210 + 13

G = 223

***************************( BUT )**************************

G = -336

only if 5-13 are inside parenthesis

like this G/(5-13) = 42

subtract whats inside the parenthesis

G/-8 = 42

multiply -8 on both sides

G = 42 * -8

G = -336
