It could be what's called a Bohn's nodule, or oral cyst. They are white bumps that develop on the side of the gum line. They are harmless and asymptomatic and usually go away within a few months. I noticed something like that in my daughter's mouth, and it didn't seem like a tooth, but was a white bump on the edge of her gum. I researched it myself and found the information on Bohn's nodules. It did go away by itself without treatment.
From your description it doesn't sound like thrush, which would be white patches on the tongue, roof of mouth, gums, that cannot wipe away and wouldn't be one single bump.
It's best to check with the doctor, which she is going to do anyway.
Best of luck!

when my son was 3 weeks old... i found the same thing in his mouth... yes it could be thrush but his was actually an oral cyst... it went away a couple of weeks later... oh and if she's breastfeeding then she would also be having pains in her breast if the baby had thrush ....if one has it then the other has it so she might need to see a doctor also
