Your capacity to marry, if you were domiciled in the UK when you married, is governed by the law of England and Wales. To put it more simply, if it was lawful for you to get married in the UK, where the age of consent (with parental permission) is 16, then that is what matters. The legality of the ceremony is also governed by the law of England and Wales. If you go elsewhere, then you will be accepted as legally married and should run into no problems. The marriage will be accepted by the overseas authorities.

yes it is legal, though it may not be legally binding in one country as it is in your home country?
For example...an Iranian woman has no right to divorce in Iran, whereas she may seek to do so in America and remarry.
Her problem would then be that she has committed a crime under her own countries law and may not be able to return to Iran.
