My son is 4 and a half months old and really struggles with constipation. My sister told me to give him liquid paraffin but I just need a little more info on it and maybe some personal experiences with it...

My baby is lactose intollerant and we changed his milk but still he is constipated. I´ve tried the old olive oil in his bottles, brown sugar etc. nothing works. I read on a few websites that they recommend liquid paraffin ( Obstinol® M Emulsion )

Do not, under any circumstances give your baby ANYTHING other than formula/breastmilk or cereal until you've talked to your doctor.

Constipation can be a symptom of HUNDREDS of illnesses, and giving your baby paraffin could harm him worse than a little constipation ever could.

Most doctors say that if your baby hasn't had a bowel movement in four to seven days, to bring him in.

Talk to your doctor before doing ANYTHING.

First check to see your baby is getting enough water and is not over warmed in blankets etc which could cause dehydration. Perhaps the room is too warm. I would go with some baby prunes before I tried that( parrafin) but I do think it should be at your pediatricians suggestion. Make a call and see what they suggest.

Liquid parrafin? Never heard of it - doesn't sound good to me. When my daughter was constipated the one time I fed her commercial baby food while on a trip away from home, my doc said to give her glycerin suppositories. It's natural and doesn't get ingested. Worked like a charm.

While this is a common treatment for severe constipation in adults it also causes the body to lose much water and could lead to serious dehydration in your son. Your son is way too young to be experimented on. Contact your doctor.

Will depend on on the context really. Which is better as a snack - fruits to me. It's tastier and gives you that little bit of sweetness. Which can be better as a snack if you are trying hard to lower back on sugar and lose weight vegetables

If he struggles with constipation the issues isnt to put something else in him, its to take something out. Either the food he's eating is stopping him up, he's getting too much iron and or calcium, or the formula he's on isnt right.

Solve the real problem so he doesnt end up with digestive and intestinal problems.

Never heard of the stuff. Parafine is wax. It's that stuff you put a wick in and make a candle out of. Sounds legit to me, but I wouldn;t just go off of what I say.
