and if its not infinite then what happens if you ever got to the end (yes its impossible) but just for the sake of conversation

my astronomy teacher says it just keeps expanding, so yes there is a limit but it is expanding at such a rate that it just keeps going and going.

like a balloon that never pops

You are right about the universe having a finite limit but that area is literally HUGE. Actually HUGE doesn't even begin to cover it, it's just that big. Billions of lightyears, let alone one lightyear is impossible for one person to travel in their lifetime.

I'm sure there's something at the very end. Maybe a sign that says, "Dead End".

For the sake of conversation, this is about the most useless conversation to have that I have run across. Outer Space is infinite beyond your ability to comprehend. Why is it so important to locate some unidentifiable point where everyone can agree, "that is the end of it ???."

At present scientists and astronomers can "see" objects in deep space at distances out to 13.7 Billion Light Years in every direction from Earth with todays sophisticated optical telescopes, and detected objects in Deep space out to 40 Billion Light Years distance using Radio Telescopes.

Now, let's get realistic...who is going to worry if space has a radius of 40 - 50 - 60 - 70 - 80 - or 90 Billion Light Years.
That distance is so unbelieveably vast that you most likely can not even write it down...

Please write down the number:
Six Trillion Miles X 80 Billion = WHAT???
(1 Light Year = 6 Trillion Miles)

True, that number is not infinite, but it is so cotton picking large that it might as well be infinite. People on Earth have nothing to compare that number to and thus gain some relative appreciation for its vastness. Without a basis for reference, most people just say," Yeh, it is big."

Given that distance (calculated above) in a real number of miles, it is important to realize that no one will ever travel way out there. The trip would take millions of years, and the life span of the average human is 100 years Max. So, the point is what???

Actually, the number system is infinite -- 1 can always be added to the 'last' number; there just has been no way of identifying certain huge, really big, gimongous numbers.

Since the number system IS infinite, and the universe is, astronomers claim, expanding, that would imply the universe to be approaching infinity. Even with it's current relative size, in human terms, it might as well be infinite now.

Which leads to another question:
If you can't find the edges of something, how can you find the center?

Nature has given us a value for infinite. According to E=MC squared. . If a mass has a velocity of light its mass will become infinity. That is where the black hole comes from . As a star collapses the velocity starts to increase as the speed approaches the speed of light. Also the force of gravity increases as the mass approach each other. The cloister the greater the gravity,so more acceleration. There is a black hole in the center of each galaxy. The mass has increased to infinity. The black hole takes the meager force of gravity and makes it into the strongest. A black hole furnishes the gravity for the hold galaxy.

According to the Second law of thermodynamics the tempertaure enery of the Universe will continually increase as a Function of Entropy.
On this basis the Density of the Universe, logically given enough time will dwindle down to the density of air.
Therefore ,the Universe will be come a very very large volume of dust. As as the spanish saying is "Que Lastima!"(what a dread)
So we have very little hope for science to rescue Us.

no the universe will not go on forever, definitly not. many scientists predict that it will be like a balloon, expanding till it is too full of air and explodes. and that explode is called the great crunch

" at the last point it takes a curve and then comes back on itself , until it reaches the same point in the opposite direction , then it rejoins its original point of origin , thus forming a circle of immense proportion , thus creating the never ending cycle , called life/death... and so on"
