I was on depo for 4 years. I ended up getting pregnant almost 2 years later. I went off in may and got pregnant one year and 8 months later.

One suggestion... If you don't get your period in the near future. Go onto the pill for a couple months. This will help to encourage your body to go back to a regular cycle. Then you can go off and this might speed up the process if you are having difficulty.

I did this after about a year of no periods and not on depo. Once I stopped taking the pill I used ovulating test kits to ensure that I was ovulating and the prime time to try.

Good luck. You might be a lucky one that gets pregnant right away. A couple years ago when i was trying Depo-vera's website had the drug facts and the actual stats for percentages and how long it took to ge pregnant.

I heard it takes a bit longer for depo, I know for the birth control you are actually very fertile right when you stop. I heard that was the opposite for depo. Depo takes a while to get out of your symptom. But for me after getting off the pill it took my body about 4 months to get back on track. Ovulating regularly and so forth.

Good Luck

nomajoye is right. I was also on the depo for 4 1/2 years, and when my husband and I decided we wanted to start trying next year, I talked to my gyne. She suggested I take the pill to get my regular period back and give the depo a chance to work out of my system. I've been taking Yaz for a little over 2 months, and got my period back when I started my third month of pills. Of course, every woman is different, but you may want to try to get your cycle regular and then you will probably have better luck. Talk to you gyne and see what she suggests for you.

Good luck, keep us posted.

Took me 18 months, and I had only been on it for 2 cycles. It has stopped my body from ovulating, and I had to take clomid to get pregnant
