Pakistan has had nuclear weapons for almost 20 years. And they didn't get them from the US--they developed nuclear weapons on their own.

And--this occured at a time before we had a crackpot like Bush in the White House who thinks he has a divine mission to run the world according to his right-wing religious fanaticism. Nobody prior to Bush saw any need to invade other countries based on paranoid obsessions about nonexistant threats.

Now--when we may really be facing a threat--mostly due to Bush's support of the dictator Musharaf, our military is streched so thin and so warn out we have very little leverage. And yes, this is entirely the result of Bush's idot notion of diplomacy. He's been sending billions to Musharaf, een though everyone knows he only sues the money to prop up his (ILLEGAL) dictatorship. Now tha tthe Pakistani people are getting sick of it and pushing for democracy, Musharaf is using "terrorism" as an excuse to persecutte pro-democracy activists.

And Musharaf only has the means to keep his brutal tyranny going because Bush gave it to him. Now Bush acts surprised because he gave a bully a club and the bully is using it on his fellws. Well, here's a reality check for the right-wing: that's what dictators do. Get over it--and next time--don't hand adictator the wherewithal to oppress his people.

pakistan has the ability to make it's own nukes. Currently, the US is friends w/ Pakistan on the war on terror, although they can't really help much. india also has nukes. There has been tension between these 2 countries for a couple of decades now. That entire geographical area is very unstable, one little thing could cause hell to break lose. I dont think we gave pakistan nukes, that would be a bit too crazy for the US. then again we sold weapons to Japan up till 1941 so i dk. Iraq is a different scenario than Pakistan. If a country wants a nuclear weapon, for the right price they can get it. There are enough rogue states and people in positions of power to allow every country to have a nuclear weapon.

Pakistan's nukes are indigenous, though they likely acquired some technical expertise from China, and may also have managed to score some information via espionage from other countries. Also, much of the information you need to get a nuclear program going and make a bomb is floating free in the scientific community. IIRC, in the 80s, a grad student even published a paper detailing how to make a fission bomb. It's really not a big secret anymore, you just have to enrich enough uranium, or make enough plutonium. That's the hard part.

Pakistan acquired enough enriched uranium using centrifuges, just like Iran is doing now.

Pakistan had a fellow named A Q Khan that was instrumental in creating their own nuke program.

Now hit the link below and stop trying to spread disinformation about how they came to have these nukes.

You know the U.S. supplies materials to other countries to manufacture weapons to be used against us.
