Whatever position it is most comfortable for the egg.
Gave thumbs up to the answers with pointy side down.
(Because of the maller volume at the bottom of the egg)

If the egg were of uniform density, in a more dense fluid it would float pointed-end down. In a less dense fluid it would tend to turn pointed end down before reaching the bottom. After reaching the bottom it would tend to turn on its side so that its center of gravity is at the lowest possible position.
However, as the previous posters said, it will depend on the position and size of the internal bubble which both vary from egg-to-egg.

I'd say it floats pointy side down. A chicken egg has an air spot at the wide end, which would likely cause that end to face upward.

Boil an egg. Then check where the air pocket is. That end will be up...I cannot remember which end it is on.

I would venture to say that it depends on the position of the yolk inside of the egg. So the egg would probably stay in whatever position it was in when it entered the water.
