Mostly, it is due to tradition. Some of it has to do with how they are raised in what is proper for a lady to do and what is not.

However, here in the U.S. it is not as uncommon for the woman to propse to the man anymore. It is becoming more and more acceptible for women to propose.

Some women are just brought up to believe that it is more appropriate for the man to ask.

This dates way back to the cave man and beyond days. Men were the protectors and bread winners and females were just.......there, breeders, passed around, used as slaves for the dirty work.
In modern times we have given women protection, more prominence in our daily life. It wasn't till the 50's and 60's that women in Canada lost their chattel status and got the vote. With changes in the laws we have upgraded women's status to more than equal the mens in some respects.
Customs are acts , activities or actions or beliefs followed by groups, tribes . Certain acts , or activities can be added or deleted .
Men asking women out to dinner or for their hand is part of that custom. Neither gender so far wishes to change that custom to be equal to both sexes.
Is it as bad as you make it sound, for women?

"...... propose men for bonding & relationship?"

LOL

If you are asking why men are the ones to propose (marriage), I would say that it's tradition.
