reinstall windows all over again but, by accident I installed windows on the wrong drive by accident. Drive H has too little space, so now windows can't update properly cause of that, Is there a way I can put windows on drive C without going through the whole process of reformatting again?

Thanks

Another option I can think of, without reformatting.

Just run Windows XP installation again and install it as a New Installation on the drive you want it to be. After you do this, when you boot up your computer you'll see two installations asking you to select the one you want to go to.

Go into the new one, and then right click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Startup & Recovery > Settings. You'll see the two boot partitions there. Select the one you want as default, and uncheck the "Time to display list of Operating Systems" checkbox.

If you are confused which one is the correct partition you want to boot into, click on the Edit button, and it will list out the boot.ini file. That should tell you which one it is. You can change the value between the double quotes to distinguish both the installations in the above.

Mind you, the old installation will still be there though your computer will now boot to the new one. You can delete the OS files on your H:\ drive now (I recommend renaming the root folder till you are satisfied with the new install before deleting it off). But you might have to reinstall any of the programs you have installed if they refuse to work.

I admit this is a bit tricky but it works fine - but if you have nothing to lose except some time, format and reload is my advice.

The only way to install Windows on to the C drive is to go through the install process, only select C instead of H as the install drive. You can not "move" it from H to C as hundreds of entries in the registry and other files would be incorrect (H instead of C) and would prevent it from working properly.

yes, but its going to be faster to go through the process again. you can use programs like Ghost and a few others to move the drive image if you want to. but by the tiem you get that all set and done it would haev been faster to reload. unless you loaded a bunch of software and stuff already.

Hi
There is one way I can think of
There are programs like Norton Ghost and Acronis
You can clone one drive to another.
clone H:\ to c:\ it worth a try before you wipe your system.
Hope this helps
