Most states will alow you to buy lottery tickets but very few, if any, will allow you to gamble in a casino. Kinda strange don't ya think?

Everything that isn't illegal.
The basic principle of common law - which is the basis of both British and American law (Except in Louisiana) is that anyone can do anything that there is no law forbidding.
So a 5 year old can legally go out and buy crack UNLESS there's a law that says he can't - which, of course, there is.
At 18 - in most States - you can do pretty much everything except buy booze, drive a truck or bus, or run for President. There's probably a few more that I can't think of off-hand.

Buy cigarettes, buy porn, rent hotel rooms, gamble in casinos, get tattoos and piercings WITHOUT consent (a person above me is wrong), vote, get married, buy lottery tickets, (some places will allow 18 year old to be in strip clubs, others will not), drive past 9pm in most states (without driver's education class), have sex with people over 18, perform in pornography videos, you don't need a parent or guardian signature for things anymore, buy firearms, join the army/military, dance in a strip club, buy a house....
There's obviously much more freedom for an 18 year old than a 17 year old lol.

buy cigarettes, vote, become a soldier, and many more things I just can't think of them all. But you can also get a tattoo, rent a room at certain motels, oh yeah get a credit card.
