They will blame someone else.

As oil becomes more scarce and lmore expensive the country will find ways to reduce our consumption, new technologies will emerge, and we will get thru it,......you are making a illogical arguement...... if you claim the democrats blocked domestic drilling, then wouldnt they get the credit for that oil still being in the ground when the rest of it runs out? So I gues your outlook is..... I want it now

America has been warned that there would be future shortages since the 70's ...... we have ignored the problem

we will find a new source of eneregy the second it does not become profitable to use oil any more. My guess is that oil fuel will be used for only special reasons (ie classic cars, diesel motors) and will cost $20 bucks a gallon and really only used for recreational purposes. We will use some sort of bio fuel or maybe hydrogen cells. Dont think that the energy companies are stupid and are just going to let there wells go dry. There just stretching out the use of oil because it still is Ultra profitiable, probably now more than ever since people think that its going to run out some time soon. They dont tell you this but down in brazil they already have Bio-feul at every gas station. You just have to go the mechanic and for $500 he can make your car run off bio-fuel. The future is here big business is just standing in the way as usuall because its just way more profitable for them the way things are now

Democrats are idiots, plain and simple. All you have to do is look to California as a model of what not to do.

California blocks nearly all power production that isn't solar or wind. Sadly, these ultra-liberal environmentalist hippie types don't understand that wind and solar are not capable of producing the kind of power needed to supply everyone. The price of this "green power" is also several times more than that of other production methods.

This is no different with national oil production. Cuba can go offshore and get all they want, but we can't. Wonderful!

The liberal types live in a dreamland. They will say "fuel cell cars!" and try to sell people on that wonderful technology. Of course, they'll omit the fact that we are 20 years away from this technology being perfected and having the infrastructure to provide us with fueling methods. In the meantime, we get screwed over by these unrealistic dreams.

Oil is here and now, we need to pump as much of it as we can to keep our economy strong. Democrats will destroy our economy or make the rich pay for everything... it is socialism, plain and simple.

I drive a 2000 Chevrolet Metro and will have solar panels on a future home of mine (not too far away from happening). But I am doing it on my own free will to be "off the grid" and not paying the power companies extreme prices because of democrat regulations. What is worse, is that I probably won't be able to avoid the taxes that I'm sure to be nailed with to subsidize the poor who can't do the same.

Biodiesel rocks, and the future points to algae produced biodiesel being a definite possiblity of a "here and now" type of fuel. Infrastructure is basically in place to do this and conversion to do so is relatively cheap... until fuel cell cars happen, why not turn to diesel and biodiesel? Oh yeah... the government blocks that too.

Meanwhile, in ultra-green liberal Europe they are driving diesel cars that get over 50 MPG. Over 50% of the cars sold in Europe are diesels.

Pretty simple to most people...but not to unicorn and tooth-fairy beliving liberal democrats.

Now: Gasoline & Diesel
Near future: Biodiesel
Far future: Fuel cells

I left out hybrids and electrics because batteries are terrible. I'd rather have extra CO2 in the air than a landfill filled with mercury and lithium. And I'm not even a hard core environmental nazi!!!

Note: Have you ever driven a modern diesel car? I drove a dodge caliber diesel (only sold in Europe) and those things have power like you would not believe!!! On "Pimp my ride" they built a bio-diesel engined musclecar that blew away a lamborghini... diesel is sweet. AND IT IS HERE AND NOW!!

Democrats and liberals are all talk and no action. If there is a true liberal out there for environmental concerns, they need to stop blabbing and put their words to action ... not by crying to a congressman or other people, by inventing things that help.

"Carbon credits" is a scam, and Al Gore still pollutes more than most of us no matter how much "carbon credits" he buys to "offset" his wastefulness. What a jerk that dude is.

The day we run out of oil, we would have had alternate energy plans in place for many decades...we are not close to running out of oil. Search yahoo news...Brazil just found 8 BILLION barrels along it's cost. We aren't running dry anytime soon.

so TRUE, they will blame the Repubs and try to say that the Republicans blocked the Democrats from searching for other "viable" options (such as domestic oil production)...
geez if Brazil just "found" 8 BILLION whatevers of oil... WHY IS THE PRICE SKYROCKETING??

When it becomes valuable enough, a democrat will lead the charge to start drilling, while claiming that they were being foresighted in blocking drilling until now, so that we would still have some oil.

Depends on consumption.

The more we use the the faster we will find out.

Most people believe it wont be for 200 years at the current rate. The real question is, what will it take to change to current consumption.

I think it is disturbing that such a "great nation" is still using the same fuel to run automobiles that was used over 100 years ago. Where are the innovations that we want so badly to be known for?????

In 1970, libs claimed we would be out of oil in 30 years. In 2000, libs claimed we would be out of oil in 30 years. In 2030, libs will be claiming that we will be out of oil in 30 years. Of course, by that point we will probably be out of corn...
