Grand larceny is a serious offense. Perhaps the 18 months will give him time to think about the consequences of his actions.

with an attitude like that, you and him are both sure to find trouble again.
Grand Larceny is a serious offense, I think the sentence is fair, and I think you should both reflect back and learn something from this. Instead of blaming the system, he should try blaming himself.

It is absolutely fair. You do the crime, you do the time. Grand larceny is a serious crime, and a criminal is a criminal, it doesn't matter what the offense is, and they should be punished. And maybe, by punishing them harshly now, it will prevent them from committing another crime.
