I'll have to see. Currently I'm tandem nursing my 8 month old and my 4 year old. I'll nurse them until they're ready to stop.

Baby #1 breast fed for 5 months
Baby #2 breast fed for 3 months
Baby #3 breast fed for 11 months
Baby #4 breast fed for 14 months
My last 2 self-weaned - I would have kept nursing longer if they had wanted to. With my older 2, I was a college student and working back in the days when pumping really wasn't much of an option (those manual pumps were all but impossible to use and electric ones were generally available only through a hospital used mostly for preemies). If I had the breast pumping equipment then that is available now, I would have nursed them longer, too. I really enjoyed breast feeding my babies. My oldest is now a mom herself and is breast feeding my 6 1/2 month old grandson. She thought she'd stop at 6 months, but isn't quite ready to stop and neither is he. She is a teacher and pumps at school. I take care of him while she and my son-in-law work and feed him pumped breast milk. She nurses him nights and weekends.

I fed my son until about 9 months, by then he was taking enough other food and juices that he weened himself.
I can't remember exactly with my daughter but it was more like 7 or 8 months. For some reason she liked the security of a bottle.
My youngest was a preemie and I couldn't get milk to flow. I tried for about 5 weeks but he wasn't gaining, or sleeping so we went to the bottle.
they are all healthy and happy adults now, and I would encourage EVERY mom to breastfeed. It is nature's way, and the better way in my opinion.

My son was premature, born at 32.5 weeks, and was breastfed until 12.5 months. First daughter was breastfed until 3 months, stopped due to postpartum psychosis resulting in me being hospitalized. Second daughter was breastfed until 8 months, stopped due to postpartum depression resulting in the need for a strong anti depressant. Would have nursed #2 and #3 until at least 12 months as well had I been given the choice.

I have three boys, and planned on nursing for 9mo - 1 yr. The first one I nursed for 8 mo, but nursed once in the night until 10mo. The second and third I nursed in the day for 6 mo. and once at night until about 9 mo. I worked, so I had to pump too. I had a hard time pumping enough milk to leave for day feeding while I was at work, so all of my kids got a bit of supplemental formula too.

My first for 10 months when she chose to never latch on again! My second is still currently nursing at 19 months. However, with my being pregnant, who knows how long he'll be nursing if my milk dries up. In addition, we might even tandem nurse once my third is born, who knows!! My ultimate goal is to allow all my children to wean themselves when they are ready, not when I am. This is a nice idea, but not sure how long that nice idea, will be nice!

my son is 2 months old and im still breastfeeding.. ill probably stop about 9 month too or until he hurts me with teeth :)
But yesterday i had to supplement formula for his last feedig because i was at work and didnt get enough milk pumped, and he projectile vomited about 10 times, and didnt want to eat it right away... he looked like he was in sooo much pain eating formula, so im going to keep breastfeeding as long as i can and hopefully stop when he is on solids...
i dont know if i would go past 1 year though..

no longer real. each and each and every infant teethes at their own p.c... My second son changed into solely breastfed and he had 10 enamel before he grew to change right into a three hundred and sixty 5 days. My first changed into breastfed and formulation fed and he had little or no enamel through the time he grew to change into a million.

I breastfed my daughter from birth for about 3 months. I had to stop because she has acid reflux and she wasn't getting enough. I had to put her on special formula. Also, one of my nipples became inverted. It is wonderful that you have breastfed your son this long. Continue to do so as long as you can. It is what is best for your son. Good luck and enjoy that bond.

18 months and 11 months- I had to give up at 11 months for the last one cause I got a severe sinus infection and needed strong meds that caused heart palpitations in adults (let alone babies). These guys are adults now and they are normal weight and healthy.

I am still nursing my 10 1/2 month old....I figure we'll stop when he's done. At the moment though, I don't see that happening anytime soon. LOL
