Hello SkyCat,

I have just this minute answered a similar question from another subscriber.

Of course books we read are a matter of personal taste, however I have only just finished reading 'Executionr Pierrepoint', an autobiography of the most prolific Official Executioner in Britain, appointed by the Home Office.

It is his story about his life as hangman and how serously he took his duty.

Although he never divulges how many hangings he actually carried out, it is a know fact that it numbered more than 600.

The story although a little macabre and quite harrowing, is an extremely interesting account of his life.

If you are interested in reading the book the details are:

Title: Executioner Pierrpoint

Author: Albert Pierrepoint (of course)

ISBN: 1-85882-061 8

This for me is the best and most fascinating book I have read.
