I would imagine the same as alcohol being an addiction. But I think some people use it as an excuse or use it to manipulate others.

On a more serious note. Yes, it is real. You can come to understand it by seeing it this way. There is a phrase that says, "Drug-of-Choice". It's what drives you to be who you are. You're likes, and ideas of living. It doesn't have to actually be Chemicals. It can be Gambling, Drinking, or even doing harm to yourself. Sex, can be an addiction, in giving someone energy or ego that is lacking. Each of us have our own Addictions. Some, are just not as harmful to ourselves as others are. Good Luck!!

It is absolutely real, research it on medical and Psychology sites. webmd is a good one. Note: Anything that can alter your neurochemicals can be addicting. You can also be addicted to Porn. If that's the case a person may prefer masturbation to sex, as most true life experiences fall far short of what a person sees in movies and it can cause impudence as a result of not enough brain chem release in true life sexual experiences. Also the chronic masturbation that accompanies porn depletes the overall sexual desire for the persons mate in relationships.

Yes. It has something to do with a chemical balance in the brain. If something is higher than it should be then you will have an addiction to sex.

It seems like a convenient excuse. Maybe the "proof" is a lot of liars saying the same convenient BS.

On the other hand, our society seems overly peoccupied.

At least guys are overly peoccupied. You will have to speak for the "weaker" sex.
