I get confused about how to do the equation 3x+y=3, would it be y=-3x+3? and what number can I use in order to plug in, can i use 0, 4, and -4. Thank you very much

This is a equation of a line. if you put the equation into slope intercept form ( y = mx + b) you can easily get a long list of coordinates.

y = -3x + 3

Which means one point (y-intercept) is (0,3) as given by the constant. The slope, as given by the coefficient of x, is the change in y of the change in x so for every increase in the value of x you decrease the value of y by three. If you want to calculate a certain value pair just plug in the value and calculate or you can graph the line, either way the point for all integer values of x from -4 to 4 are listed below.

(-4,15)
(-3,12)
(-2,9)
(-1,6)
(0,3)
(1,0)
(2,-3)
(3,-6)
(4,-9)

You can move any term from one side of the equation to the other as long as you change its sign. So y = -3x +3 is totally correct.

You can plug in any value you like for x and then determine the corresponding value for y. It's usually best to pick 0 or 1.

3x+y=3.
First you need to get Y by itself by subtrcting 3x with -3x and place the number and variable on the right side of Y=3 which will give you y=3-3x

we can't solve x and y in this equation because there are too many values for x and y. This equation can only be solved when you have the 2nd function go together with 3x+y=-3.

to get y=-3x+3 you just isolate the y of the original equation then put all the numbers to the other side.. you can plug in any number you want.

I haven't done a problem like this in years but it looks to me like x could be 1 and y could be 0. But that's too easy.. it has to be more complicated than that! haha
