When you shop for cheese slices read the fine print. You would be amazed at the fact that some of the big names are actually "cheese food" or "cheese product". Especially the ones that are individually wrapped. I find that the best is alot of times the cheaper cheese that's not individually wrapped. It's actually real cheese. I usually use american and make it in my George Foreman grill. All my kid's friends say I make the best grilled cheese sandwiches and they always want them when they come over.

I like the standard Kraft singles American Cheese.
Sometimes I'll use the Tillamook Sharp Cheddar Cheese Slices (thick sliced)

Damn, now I want a grilled cheese!

I like a slice each of swiss, cheddar, and colby-jack, and I crust the buttered side in parmesan. That's all the cheese I've managed to fit on a sammie without it all coming out in the pan.

COLBY JACK!!! It is soo awsome you have to try it cause it's like cheddar mixed with mozzerella so you get a little bit of both flavors and the way the cheese melts yet stays thick it is sooo good. It's my favorite craving stopper. Now you got me hungry :)

I like to use cheddar, usually, but whatever is available otherwise and if possible, with a little bit of swiss. The swiss melts quick and easy and helps the cheddar be more melted than it would be alone. Is there actually a "right" answer??

American Cheese is good, Swiss cheese is yummy. But have you ever tried goat cheese? Take the toast and fry it with butter then add goat cheese and fry it on the frying pan. It's amaaaazingly YUMMY!!
