Sims 2 please help?

I have been playing sims 2 lately and it keeps crashing is there any way i can prevent this from happening without erasing any records from the game history?

Is it crashing in specific houses? With specific families? That lot or family could be bugged; delete it and start over, or move the family off the lot and see if it stops.

Do you have any custom content? One of it could be corrupt; try removing all custom content and adding it back in in small batches. When the game crashes again, that batch has a corrupt file.

Maybe try wiping the disc.
It sometimes works.
