My husband and my good friends. Unfortunately, blood kin has let me down a lot, but I've been lucky to have a great "adopted" family.
Why do I trust them? It's not that they are perfect, have never made mistakes, or never hurt me. It is the way they owned up to their mistakes, took my feelings seriously, and have maintained a honorable track record of following through with commitments. These qualities are not shared by my genetic family, who never admit they are wrong, belittle my pain, and are fickle with their promises.

I've been let down by so many people so it's hard for me to really count on someone...I always count on myself though =)
