I gave an interview recently which went well - not 100% to my satisfaction but was in general good. After sending a Thankyou note to the pannel, I got reply from the hiring manager (who was in the pannel) to meet with me for lunch?

Any idea what he is up to? what he will be talking about?

He might have liked you enough to want to see you in a different setting and decide for himself if he wants to hire you or not.

Also, some companies do want to see you in a social or dinner setting before making the final decision, especially if the job you will be doing will involve some of that.

I would suggest to go ahead and accept the invitation. You can read 'Business Etiquette in Brief' by Ann Marie Sabath before you go - it has very useful tips that you could use in your specific situation.

Good luck!

I believe that it means that you are going to be hired for the job that you applied for. That is the only thing that it could mean. It is also with the manager so be happy that your hired for the job. The manager will be talking with you about the job and different things that apply to the job. Congratulations!

We can't read his mind. He may have a question or two left over. He may be planning to hire you and wants to get to know you better in an informal setting before you start.

He may just think you're a hottie and is looking for a date.

Look at it this way though... if the panels decision was "We're not hiring THAT loser!" you'd not be hearing anything from them past a "Thanks, but no thanks" letter - so this pretty much has to be a good sign.
