Do you mean using the Shift Key and pressing the "2" key gives no symbol?
Email for support.
Edit:
I sent you a link to the MSFT Keyboard Utility. You change your keyboard to use a different - unused key - for the bad "2" "@" key.
I used the "`" "~" key for my daughter who lost her "N" key.

I can't tell you what the problem is, but I can tell you how to diagnose- use another keyboard. If that solves the problem, then it seems like a hardware problem with your keyboard.

My Sony VAIO started with a similar problem- the left key stopped working. My immediate workaround was to do the fancy pianist technique of holding one hand over the other to hit the right key. An external keyboard had no problems.

The next thing you have to do is make the financial decision- is it worth spending money to fix it or should you just get another laptop? That's your call.
