slowly let off the gas and shift ..as the rpm's drop it should shift very easy..
most all big rig trucks are designed to be shifted this way..
but you can do it with any manual trans.

with a little practice you can shift as smooth as an automatic this way

note..you still need the clutch to start and stop

If you are really experienced at driving a manual this should be no problem for you. First off, this has to be done in conjunction with the engine. If you get the engine at a desired RPM the change will seem as if you're using a clutch and simply "fall into gear". You will need to let off of the gas completely while doing this. This shift might need to be more precisely executed because a grinding within the gear cogs might ensue otherwise. Although most people would say this is a ridiculous idea, truck drivers use this routinely. Obviously they are very experienced drivers though, as they drive upwards of a 100k miles a year where most people drive 12k.

Not a recommended thing to do.

Risk doing all sorts of nasties inside the drive.

That said, us who drive oldies like my green goddess fire engine will often change cog on the move without the clutch.

The way its done is this.

up the box:

out of cog and gently push the stick through the gate into the new gear and as the engine reves drop it will slot in when the revs match.

For going down the box it's the oposite.

Out of the high gear and gently push the stick into the new position whilst increasing the engine revs.

As the speeds match up the gear will slip into drive.

New gearboxes have a thing called syn chromesh which will not really like this but older straight cut boxes were designed for people who could drive like that.

really wouldnt advise doin it because you would mess up the gearing cogs but if your going to do it anyways then you have to listen to the engine and hope you catch the cogging at the correct time and very quickly slam it in gear changing down is alot easier than changing up gently put your hand on the gear stick and feel the cogs through the vibration then gently apply pressure to the gear stick and it should slip in!

but again id seriously advise against as it can ruin your transmission and be a costly experience

You should not be doing that, if you can switch the gears without using the clutch , it's time for the clutch to be replaced.

Why would you want to try that without using your clutch? That would be an "automatic transmission".

NOT RECOMMENDED, but yes it can be done.

You have to get vehicle speed and engine speed at the right level and it will work.

Same principle as truck drivers use.

Lots of practice, and will not hurt anything if you can do it properly.

DONT DO IT! unless it's a motorcycle or big rig that's designed to do it, you will ruin your tranny...
