What is the process? If it is one in which the number of moles stays constant, then the volume stays constant, no work is being done to the system, and w is zero. if the reaction increases the number of moles, then the system is expanding, doing work, and w (the work done TO the system) is negative.

In any case, if the reaction is exothermic, the pressure is remaining constant, and the temperature is not increasing, then the system must be exporting heat energy, so q is negative.
