I believe in both. I believe somethings are meant to happen, but we also have somewhat of a control over our own destiny. we cannot stop a parent from dying, but we can make sure what they taught us doesnt go to waste.

Free will leads to your destiny. We make our own way in this world by making choices during the course of our lives. I think of life as a huge tree with lots and lots of branches. Our parents start us off at the base of the tree. Once we are old enough to make our own decisions, we are presented with different branches. Each choice we make brings us to a different branch, with other branches off of it. If we made a different choice, it would have led us to a different branch, a different life path, and other, different choices. Just my humble opinion.
