Depends on your taste! If you wish to have a stable browser, go for IE 6 or 7, but you can't expect speed on IE unless you have a very fast connection. And if you want your browser to be secure, IE does not help, instead, go for Firefox. firefox's speed is 2 times better than IE, but is not considered stable. If speed is your only concern, Opera suits you best. Opera is not very stable but is quite secure. If you use your browser mostly for downloads, IE again. As Opera's download crashes very often. Downloads in Firefox are resumable, but the links are often broken.

I favor Firefox, then Safari.

Opera is good, too.

I look forward to Iceweasel.

I use IE only for updates to Windows and Office because MS will not allow the others.

I use Amaya to test web pages.

Netscape is a true "dog". Avant is somewhat interesting.

If you want to play with some of the more obscure browsers, look at: http://browsers.evolt.org/

I would choose Mozilla Firefox because it is more safer than using the internet itself. Also you won't have any troubles opeing any pages. The speed of the internet is also great.
