You can do how tv commercials or magazine ads depict women as less superior then men and how this is one of the reasons why women are still not 100% equal even in todays society!
For example alot of designers will show a woman as sad or depressed, but then man in the same picture will have a mean look on his face or a happy look. Sometimes the man is even grabbing a woman in a provocative way. Just look in magazines such as Elle, Cosmo, Vogue, etc... you'll see what I mean.

How about the sociology of pets and human relations? or the cockroach's social behavior. Go under the magnifying glass and see what your find sociologically. Androgyny is an interesting topic. My friend did his dissertation on this, but it focused on the individual. Fascinating topic! Good-luck!

Do something that makes you a better student of Sociology...or a better person.
My Sociology teacher was a pure fun loving wack-o. ...but I achieved a far better prospective of other cultures and how harm is often brought in by means of "do-goodies" trying to change a culture. Example- missionaries felt they had to help native Tahitians be more Christian by making them dress in Mu mus instead of them being half naked - so many drowned while swimming trying to spear fish. Westerners brought measles to the Hawaiians and nearly killed off the islands native population...nice gift huh.

I advise that you do some research at your local libertarian and see what material they have on the field of sociology and then choose a topic to write you paper on.

I like the topic on women as well. Maybe about weight problems...like girls who are anerexic are getting younger and younger--they show unrealistic body images on tv.
