We have had almost 8 years of an inept administration. There has been no leadership and actually to the contrary. It is hard for to remember when our nation has been so divided. We will be at war for years to come. It is now time for our nation to set aside the foolishness of party politics and hope for leadership. The next president must be able to unite the people of our nation and lead us into a never ending struggle over petroleum. Here is my question or premise....the ongoing war will not be won with sophisticated weaponry, but by the will and determination of the people. We need leadership!!!! We can prevail but not if we are as now, divided. How say you?

Oil is irrelevent and should be irrelevent. Rather than piss money away on a useless war that can't and won't be won...Better to spend it on alternative fuel development and better efficiency/preservation of the resource. I'd rather have my home heated in winter than be forced to drive to the grocers in an SUV. That's leadership and we aren't likely to change habits over night...Europe is leading the way the USA refuses to follow in conservation efforts. Spoiled brats is what we are and will remain till we as a people/nation change direction. Unfortunately for us change comes slowly. PEACE!

Fearmongering about middle east countries - raises oil prices and increases arms sales for the defense industry.
Hillary's vote to label the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a "terrorist" organization is having an effect - with higher gas prices. Oh- and the defense industry is donating more to Hillary Hawk than any other candidate - Repub or Dem.
And Obama's tough talk about bombing Pakistan is another reason oil prices have increased. The day after his threat - hundreds of Pakistanis protested and burned U.S. flags!
We're supporting John Edwards who doesn't threaten other countries - but will defend America.

We are not at war in Iraq. We have invaded and occupied. Thinking that it is for oil is just a very small part of the big picture. Granted this administration has mucked it up. hopefully the next one that is installed will do better. Though I don't have too high of hopes.
These oil prices are rising mostly to speculation of the impending expansion of U.S. attacks. Iran being the focus.

Petroleum is a finite resource. The developing countries desire more oil each year, and we are past peak oil. The world must create alternative energy sources or things will only get worse.

It'sa starting to look like the price will go up no matter if we win or lose...'benny" is like a fruit cake with just a few too many nuts to suggest that we need to consume more in order for the price to go down

Supply and demand pal.

Trash the Hummer, and get a Prius, or a bike. Enough people do this, the price will go down.

Oil prices are not high because of the war, they are high, because all of the hippies are buying economical cars, and using less gas. The oil companies need to make up that money somewhere, they have investors to look after. Supply and demand doesn't apply to the oil companies.

*Never said it will go down if we consume more, it wont go down, no matter what we do.
