Well, between 1998 and 2002, Iraq attacked US aircraft patroling the UN-sanctioned 'no fly zones' on an almost daily basis, so that'd be hundreds, maybe over a thousand 'attacks.' Just, none of them successful.

There were more attacks after that, but, in the run-up to the war, the US was making 'retaliatory' attacks, itself, anyway, so they were prettymuch just getting an early start, at that point.

Really, asside from that, Iran has shown more overt hostility towards the US than Saddam-era Iraq, starting with the revolution where the current regime siezed power, when the American Embasy (US soveriegn territory) was siezed and hostages held for over a year, and continuing via terrorist proxies.

Many, many nations around the world agreed with intelligence reports that Iraq had WMD's. Perhaps they did, the UN stalled so long they could have moved them anywhere. I am sure the girls at the local MIDDLE SCHOOL are happy that the Hussien son's are no longer around patrolling for their next sexual assult.

Thank goodness SADDAM didn't get a chance to attack us. It's a miracle, because we allowed him to violate 17 resolutions... Oh, and it's not Iraq that we went to war with. It was Saddam, whom was a terrorist and a mass murderer. Remember, we're in a war against terrorists?
