Of course it is. Spring water is the best (not drinking water or distilled water) but who can afford it?! Just using plain old tap water treated with a dechlorinator is every bit as good and a whole lot cheaper.

Generally yeah. That is, the stuff they add is just trace minerals which won't hurt the fish any more than it would hurt you.

Of course lots of it dumped into salt water changes its salinity which could be bad.

no it is not. you should use the water from your sink. but make sure you have a heater in there to warm up the water before you put the fish in your tank.

it is, if it's not sparkling(with bubbles). Otherwise just use tap water.
