Going to the Charles theatre one night then to TD Banknorth Arena the next so I am looking for fine/dressy dining options near each one. I am thinking of Flemings Steakhouse one night and then Bacco Restaurant the next, are those good choices. Just in boston for the weekend so dont know really any restaurants in the city

Flemings is amazing - you'll love it! I've never been to Bacco, but I've heard it's great! There are so many awesome restaurants in Boston, especially in the theatre district. Davio's and Bonfire are EXCELLENT - I recommend them both! Enjoy!!

There are many wonderful fine dining experiences to be had in Boston. I favor the casual scene where I can see the chefs at work and bask in the aroma of their handiwork. (My favorite in this category is Pomodoro at 319 Hanover Street in the North End.)

That said I can fully understand that there are some occasions when you want to get dressed up and have a meal without going home smelling of garlic.

On those evenings, my top choices include:

L'Espalier -- 30 Gloucester St (Back Bay) -- their chef, Frank McClelland, received the nod for the 2007 James Beard Award as Best Northeast Chef. It's tough to get reservations, but well worth the effort. It is among my top choices when I think of wonderful fine dining experiences I have ever had, regardless of location.

Other top choices:
Radius -- 8 High St (Financial District)

Grille 23 -- 161 Berkeley St (Back Bay)

Bacco is one of my favorites!

If you want the finest, go to Top Of The Hub. Personally, I think their food is a bit too weird, so I go there for dessert and after dinner drinks. The fresh baked cookies with chantilly cream are awesome, and they have great martinis. The price is not way too bad either.. well worth it for the view as long as it's a clear night.

Nothing in Boston is "fine" or "classy."
