He won't go down as the worst president in American history (that is reserved for Warren Harding who allowed his croonies to loot nation, he even lost the White House's china collection in a game of poker).

But Bush will go down as one of the worst.

1. He started a war based on false pretenses.
2. Created a doctrine based off of 'Preemptive War' that has destablized the entire world and led to both North Korea and Iran seeking the nuclear bomb.
3. He had absolutely no plan to win the 'peace' after invading Iraq. The nation is now in the midst of a civil war.
4. He has rejected the Geneva Convention and openly used torture as an interrogation technique.
5. He turned the budget gains into the largest budget deficit in US history and cut taxes to make the deficit deeper.
6. He gave tax incentives for companies to move manufacturing jobs out of the country.
7. He led an attack on civil liberties unparralled in US history.
8. His unilateral approach to foreign policy has severly hurt America's ability to work other nations.

This question has been asked far too many times. In my opinion, GWB (43) is one of the worst presidents in history. I consider GHWB (41) one of the best. Naturally, there have been many better, i.e. FDR, and of course, the purported political saints of old.

Let's stop worrying about whether he is the worst, and figure a way out of the mess he put us in.

Edit: The U.S. dollar is down a lot more than 10 percent against other hard currencies. Against the euro, it has lost 23 percent in the last two years. The dollar has lost close to 50 percent of its value against the euro since the euro's inception in January 2002 (Jan 2002, $1.00 bought 1.18 euros; today, $1.00 buys 66.43 euro cents (100 euro cents equals 1 euro). A similar story can be told about the dollar's relationship to the Pound Sterling or Swiss Franc. To a point, that was good--Europeans could buy our exported goods cheaper, which helped us improve our economy (and you thought it was "tax cuts?"). Now, the international economy has started losing faith in the dollar as an international standard, primarily because of a huge national, fiscal irresponsibility, and perpetual deficit spending, notibly without a method in place to repay our international creditors.

The artificially low interest rates to support an artificial economy will hurt us too. Dollars are a commodity just like corn and gold. Supply and demand. Our government is putting a huge demand on the supply of dollars, but has implaced "price controls" in the form of artificially low interest rates. Consequently, our international financiers, i.e. China, will start pulling its dollars out for Euros, Pounds, or Francs. Again, pressure on the price of the dollar.

The dollar, sadly, will fall further.

The economy is cyclical. When Clinton was Pres the electronics industry was peaking and everyone thought oh what a great president, when it was Al Gore who invented the Internet. Seriously we have to get the Deficit under control now and put our hands together and hope this "war" in Iraq continues to cool down. If I remember right it was congress that authorized the military action in Iraq, and now that it sucks they all want to dump it. Its all BS. Open your eyes to your new mother, her name is EXXON MOBIL.

Given my cynical view of politics and the Presidency in general (stating that they're all bad in one way or another). Worst...Let's see relied on faulty information plunging us into a costly conflict in terms of lives and $$$. Ignored infrastructure...all of our various institutions are falling apart. Worst foreign relations in the history of the presidency...Washington had better relations with England despite winning a war against them. Etc, etc, etc...

Finally, the guy out and out lied about Iraq...faulty info be dammed he stuck to his guns and still does so...Does the USA have the right to ram it's ideals down others throats? PEACE!

Yes. The debt is at an all time high. The trade deficit is at an all time high. The dollar is losing value. Gas prices are sky high. Invading Iraq was crazy. We should fund stem cell research. Cheney knew Plame's identity was disclosed. I could go on and on.

I would have to go with James Buchanan on this one. Buchanan had made the worst decisions in U.S. History as president. He essentially committed treason by allowing the south to succeed. His personal beliefs were questionable as well as he was a proud supporter of slave-owners rights. The economic disaster that was left by his administration was undeniably much worst than anything Bush has currently caused as well.

I dont think so, but it's a subjective statement at best. Who really is qualified to say the "best" or "worst" at anything..Interesting note, check out the link, there are lots of lists ranking presidents and the worst all have different people depending on who was surveyed!

yes, the worst.

and he cant brag about the economy any more - the U.S. dollar is Down 10% compared to other currencies.
that really sucks !

but, he can still say he gave a lot of money to fight aids.
but the truth is.. any President would have done that.
---------------------------
and for those who are still trying to support him -
since when did being a good American mean that you have to make Excuses for our leaders ?

and I love that one guy that still wants to blame Bill Clinton.
how is Iraq Bill's fault ?

The Bush/Clinton Dynasty will be seen as the corruption that brought down the U.S.A,

Unfortunately, the crooks usually write the history books,

but the truth eventually surfaces many many years later.
