I'm at 30,000 miles and my tires are worn way down. A guy told me to take it to the dealership because apparently this has been a common problem on the 2006 Mazda 3's. Anyone else have this problem?

Your expectation for your tires were greater than 30,000 miles. Tires will not live up to expectations when they are not rotated every 5,000 miles, if they have not been checked for proper inflation on a regular basis and if you drive fast into corners. Lastly, the type of road traveled will wear out many a passenger tire. i.e. road construction, pot holes etc.

If you can swing it, get a set of Michelin tires. Michelin does not cut corners on it's product no matter the price point. If not Michelin, be sure to get a very good set of tires, certainly better than stock. Any car is only as good as it's tires, and anyone riding with you are only as safe as what the tires are capable of handling short of human error.

The best protection from a car accident is avoiding one, your tires are the first line of defense. Cheers.

If you got 30K on a set of stock tires, consider yourself lucky. Manufacturer's typically put the cheapest tires they can to move the cars off the lot, and 30K is about right for a set of stock tires.

I had to replace tires on my vehicle at 18K as the thread was already worn under spec.

30K miles is the life expectancy on the Mazda 3 tires.

If you have the 17's that are the Goodyear RS-A I can see why they are worn down, I have them on my wifes Mazda 3 and they were junk.

Mine has 43,000 miles, and I have been looking for new tires. Looking at the other answers, I guess I am lucky. Good thing our tires are cheap!! ;)
