If you install the wanescotting in such a way that it is removeable. That may work kind of like an access door to the plumbing. If that is what you are attempting to do. also itf done in wood it ould be more durable that sheet rock if you did have a leak. however you would want to fix any plumbing problems first.

I cannot think of any problem that wainscotting would cure. If you have high humidity, you need an exhaust fan. I am assuming that the walls are buckling from moisture. Wainscotting would only cover the problem up, not cure it.

in my opinion it's a great idea to install there wainscoting, because it'll renew your old bathroom interior and will protect your bathroom walls from water
