This is a good question. It reminds me of the year Whoopi Goldberg won the best supporting acress Oscar. Or when Farenheit 9/11 was given a prize at Cannes.
Also, isnt' it a bit of a stretch equating global warming with peace?

It was already going way down when Carter and Arafat won it. I would turn it down rather than associate myself with the people who are winning it these days.
