I know that money cannot buy happiness, but lack of money creates a lot of misery. True every second is precious, but for 1 year of my life, I would be able to spend more time with my kids instead of working, and (with the right investments) I would ensure that I could provide my kids with a future where lack of money would not be so much of an issue.

Heck no, Time is the most important thing we have on this earth it could already end any-day why would you take 1mil for it to end a whole year shorter... Life is too short..

Time is the only thing in life you can't get back. It is priceless.

Could they tell me how many years I had left first???

Well, I spend a year of my life for $40000 now, so I guess a MIL is a better investment!
