Do they understand the situation. Is an immigrant illegal when he robs a Circle K? The court don't seem to be getting it.
The American Supreme Court will take some steps when the Mexican Suprems Court says it is justified. Please don't show ignorance by saying the American Court does not care what the Mexican Court says. That is what international laws are for. The UN is an assembly of representatives of various nations supreme courts. In humanitarian issues they must all agree or it is war. All the members will say it is alright for Mexicans to keep crossing the border as they have for hundreds of years.

Police officers do not go to the Supreme Court to change laws or try to force them to enact them. It is up to the public and how much crap we will take before the lawmakers we vote in enforce the laws they have created.

PLEASE don's suggest that cops explain ANY law to ANYONE. Cops knowledge of the law is, in most cases, miserably deficient.

Anyone is illegal when they rob a store. Whether the person was "already" illegal doesn't affect the illegality of the robbery. Federal immigration law requires that any alien (legal OR illegal) who commits a crime like robbery must be deported.

BUT.... ICE can't deport you if they don't know about you, and many local governments have passed "refuge" laws that prohibit local police from co-operating with ICE in any way. So the guy that robs a Circle K in such a place, and goes to prison, will serve his time and be released, and the feds will not know about the conviction, and thus won't deport him.

If you don't like that, the people to take it up with is your local government.
