I live in an old apartment made in the '50's. My bathtub is relatively new, but every time i shower the water fills up to my leg and doesnt drain. This is so annoying. The landlord has sent people to try to fix it numerous times only for it to reoccur again and again. Any solutions?

Soap and shampoo contain oils. This clings to the drin pipe and catches hair. this causes clogs. Home Centers are now carrying a plastic strip that you push down the drain and when pulled back up, it pulls hair out. Think it is called a Zip Strip. You could also try Draincare by Zep. It is an emzyme drain cleaner. Enzyme cleaners cling to and eat organic matter. Follow the directions on the container.

My guess is that back in the 50's there was a unique way of installing plumbing...probably the cause is that the plumbinhg is in so many diff U's that eventually everything has been caught up in the joints. I think your landlord needs to replace old piping and upgrade..Good luck

Get your own plumber to take a look at it. Maybe there is a plumbing screw up especially with such an old building.
