Also, is it true the offspring of 2 siblings will be disfunctional? or have a disease of some sort?
Please help. It's for my bio assignment...

Any recessive genes for disorders would be more likely to end up in offspring together because the siblings would be more likely than the average population to have the same recessive alleles. However, that does not mean that the offspring will definitely have problems. It's just more likely.

Because it's freaking gross! LOL

The other commenters are correct. Incest is more likely to result in defects and disorders AFTER several generations. There are studies that have actually stated that incest within one or possibly two generations can "perfect" the genes, but after that you will see a sharp increase in genetic issues.

There are even modern day examples of this in some societies. I have heard it is quite common in certain parts of Alaska (where there are not enough males for some reason) and Africa especially.

It's called incest, and is frowned upon both by society and religion. If a baby results, it can be highly affected genetically - for example, physical/mental deformities, stillbirth, etc.
Same thing with parental incest - so it's a very wrong thing to do from several standpoints. I know for a fact that your baby could end up with mental retardation, and lots of other deformities. This just isn't recommended, and most of all it's very, very wrong. Especially in today's society.

This is commonly overblown (not that I am encouraging incest). The notion that the children will be dysfunctional is wrong. Sufficient inbreeding will eventually lead to genetic defects, but the likelihood of the union of a brother and sister resulting in genetically inferior offspring is not high.

Same thing with parental incest - so it's a very unsavory thing from several standpoints. One example, the royalty of Europe intermarrying, and in the case of the Russian Royal family - hemophilia, and in others, mental disease.

also, the love between family is supposed to be different than the love between husband and wife. look up the different ways to say love in greek, there is agape and more i can't remember. there are different types of love and they are meant to be shared differently amongst people.
