We are really not the kind of people who make plans and do all those fun little things. I wish we were. I wish we did something else than wake up and open presents and watch TV. Its so ridiculous! Who watches the news on Christmas Day? My Mom always has to find something to tick someone off than she scrunches her face and doesn't talk then all my Dad does is watch tv and then my Mom gets mad at him for not even saying or doing anything except for watching stupid tv. You can watch the news during the week but Christmas is not the time! Really I wish we can do a traditional celebration where we all get into the spirit without someone getting ticked (Usually my Mom's fault) then I have to tell her "Come on Mom please don't do this your ruining everything" in a nice way. Also we have a business and my Parents are saying we can't close the store on Christmas eve so we have to stinkin work.
How can I make or do something that will put them in the mood? I can't drive I don't have allot of

money but I want us to have fun and have a fun day. All we do is eat open presents and thats it. I get frustrated because that was the end of the day. Its really boring and i really don't have fun.
Sorry If this sounds sad or depressing to you but what can I do to get them in the spirit and make the day more special and my Dad said I can plan out the day however I want and we can go where I say (I have pretty cool ideas)

Cant you have friends round? or go to theirs, (can YOU secretly arrange it?) seems a shame when you're obviously bursting to do something different than push sprouts round a cold plate while the Queen is pacifying the nation.

Christmas Eve is my daughters birthday, so I guess we'll party .. but Christmas day.. I will spend reminiscing.. nothing more.

Sadly, this is typical of a lot of households. The trick is substitute a good activity for the bad activity (watching TV, working, etc). You can't force anyone to be "in the mood", but you can offer them fun opportunities.

Never tell someone that they are "ruining everything", even in a nice way. It places the guilt and blame for the situation on them. Instead, calmly and politely (but pointedly) say, "That's enough" or "We know you're frustrated, but how about we (suggest positive solution)".

This year, well before Christmas, suggest a new plan to your family, and brainstorm ideas together. Tell them that you want to create a new family tradition, something that everyone can do together and enjoy. After opening the presents and maybe an early brunch/lunch, everyone could:
-go for a hike, or a leisurely drive around the park.
-volunteer somewhere.
-plant a tree (to replace the one you cut down for Christmas)
-challenge each other to decorate the store in fantastic and amazing ways for just this one night, so that your customers that evening will be thrilled. This will increase business and give you a better reason for working the store that night - and if you get really good at it, maybe your store will get on the news. It'll seem less like "work" if you're handing out candy canes and singing carols.

For Christmas eve I'll more then likely just be staying home- it's our tradition to watch "A Christmas Story" so we'll probably be watching that during the evening [My mom, sister and I] =) Then on Christmas day, my sister and I will wake up and then go wake up my mom and we'll all open presents. Once presents have been opened, we'll all look over the presents, etc. Then we'll have a nice breakfast. Later on, we'll be going to my aunt's & uncle's house for Christmas dinner. All of our cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. will be there so it should be a lot of fun =) Basically just spending some time with the fam and such! ~Merry Christmas~

Traditionally in our home, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are the days we go nowhere and thankfully, nobody comes and sees us. Although we do watch TV on Christmas Eve up to our dinner time. We have a nice dinner by candlelight and with carols and cocktails afterwards. Around midnight, we open the gifts.

On Christmas Day, even though I'm up early, I still catch the news and then we have breakfast and the rest of the day we play with our toys such as a puzzle while we listen to more carols or watch Christmas flicks.

It's just me and my wife.

what about making a scrapbook of the year? a good way to relive the fun tiems you've shared as a family over the year... or if you're wanting an activity, is there a ice rink open near you? could you all just get in the car and ride around and look at Christmas lights? Or how about pick five or so people you know who you think might spending the day alone and invite them over, a simple meal of soup and salad followed by a board game, makes the day fun. What about making up goodie plates and taking them to the neighbors? there's lotso of ways to incorporate family fun wtih the spirit of Christmas giving, good luck and enjoy your holiday!
