I have begun using a 52 card deck for divination purposes. I realise that there a number of books out there on this subject, but the best meanings I have found thus far are located on the "Learning Cartomancy" website associated with Yahoo. I have also been doing research on the internet, incorporating everything I have found in my own binder that I have put together for this purpose. I have also recently acquired a Little Lenormand deck and am thrilled at the prospect of utilising both systems in my readings. I have also found some online meanings on this system, and because I read a few different languages, have found some websites from other countries which have been very useful. For this deck, of course, there's also the LWB that I am able to work with. Does anyone out there who is more experienced have any advice for me regarding my approach? Do you think that I am going about this wrong? Are there any internet materials that anyone has found innacurate? Thank you in advance!

Hi,
I do not know if you are aware of 2 newly released books exclusively for the small Lenormand deck -36 cards- have been published this year 2007. Check on Amazon under Lenormand keyword.
"The Secrets of the Lenormand Oracle" and
"The Game of Destiny"

:)

I have written a few short essays on cartomancy and the history of cartonmany on my 360 blog (accessed through my Answers profile) You might find it relevant. I also show samples of a deck of an apprentice of Madame Lenormand. You have to scroll down past the newer entries on chakras that i have begun.

Card reading proficiency comes with practice. In time, you develop your own style. Other sources are only peripheral guides.

"Does anyone out there who is more experienced have any advice for me regarding my approach? Do you think that I am going about this wrong?"

yes.

as i was examining all kinds of rural magic practices in my country, i discovered that those almost illiterate peasant women were mostly often the best 'in the craft'.
the answer i received the most was that everything was transmitted orally (there is a superstition about written chants or spells - they won't work) and minimal - they were all instructed by their 'teachers' to let their imagination go wild.

so, besides the technique of spreading the cards, their numbers, the 'enchantment', there was little else. there was no dictionary for the meanings of each card - nothing.
and by golly, did they 'see' facts in their cards!

so, i tend to believe cards by themselves are just a support for distracting the conscious mind, while the subconscious... i dunno... connects to the collective mind or whatever.

but spending so much time learning about techniques is wrong, imho. you risk to miss the entire point...

actual!! not basically do I thank the guy who gave the final answer, I thank people who participate interior the answering. the actuality that they took the time to examine my query and chosen to respond to... I savor that and that i think of once you savor human beings it retains them coming back... basically "uncomplicated courtesy" whether... I not in any respect anticipate a thankyou. in case you call for or anticipate one, you will often finally end up upset. not anybody takes or maybe has the time to respond on each query they have posed... Plus, not anybody has the comparable standards of courteous habit, so getting upset won't replace them.
