So it would seem logical that our own galaxi would have this same Dark Matter and Dark Energy then?

What will happen to the universe then if everything keeps speeding up. Will it plateau or keep going until it reaches the speed of light and every thing just fly apart?

Those are two different things.

Dark matter is the assumed cause of gravity that seems to be holding galaxies together. If you add up the gravity of all the stars and gas clouds and dust clouds that you can see in a galaxy, it is not enough mass to keep the stars of the galaxy in their orbits. So astronomers assume there is some unseen matter causing that gravity.

Dark energy is the mysterious force that is making the universe expand faster and faster. It almost seems like a kind of anti-gravity. Dark energy has never been felt of measured, it is just an explanation for why the universe appears to be speeding up its expansion instead of slowing down as everybody expected.

Not the same

Dark matter is matter only detected by the gravitational effect it puts on ordinary matter.

Dark energy is an unknown energy that actually makes the radial expansion of the universe ACCELERATE even though gravity should cause matter flying apart to decelerate.

The sum total of everything that we know about dark matter and dark energy is the we gave them a name.

We know absolutely nothing more about them but that we believe that they must exist.

campbelp is absolutely correct. It is nice to have a top contributor who actually answers questions correctly and to the point. Too many reach that status by weight of sheer numbers of stupid or incorrect answers.
